THEJIBLAB DOES THIS. WE EXPLORE THE ART OF GRATORI FOR RIDERS TO PROGRESS & EVOLVE THEIR FREEESTYLE SKILLS YEAR-ROUND!
Gratori (often called Guratori & written in Japanese as グラトリ) is a snowboarding style focused entirely on ground tricks & "buttering" on flat terrain in lieu of using park features including large jumps, rails, or halfpipes. Often described as "dancing on the snow," it emphasizes fluidity, rhythm & creative expression.
The word itself is a Japanese portmanteau derived from the English phrases of Guraundo (グラウンド) which means "ground" & Torikku (トリック) which means "trick".
Gratori generally breaks down into 3 core riding styles - Press, Spin & Runtrick. Press entails leaning heavily on the snowboard's nose/tail to lift the opposite end completely off the ground, relying on balance & flexing the board. Spin involves performing flat-ground rotations (i.e., 180s, 360s, or 540s) by utilizing the board's natural "pop" off the ground using ollies & nollies. Runtrick is a high-speed hybrid that blends sharp, aggressive carving turns directly into immediate spins & ground tricks, creating a seamless down mountain flow.

Never required, but helmet, wrist guards, knee & butt pads may always be used if desired.
